If you upload an image and it appears sideways or upside-down, more than likely there is metadata in your file instructing it to rotate upon upload. This is most often seen with photos taken on an iPhone. If you notice a photo is not oriented as you expect:
- Open it in a photo editor like Photoshop (or MS Paint, Paint.NET, or any number of free alternatives)
- Make sure it is correctly oriented, then save a copy of it
- Replace the photo you uploaded with the copy, and you will see it is oriented correctly
